A Whole 'Latte' Change

Two weeks after having my baby boy, I thought for sure things would be back to normal around here.  Oh, how wrong I was!  It has been 9 years since we have had an infant in the house, and I completely forgot how much attention a newborn needs.....not to mention sharing that attention with my other 3 children, all while recovering from my second c-section (which in itself has been a lot harder this time around).  I just had this vision that I would bounce back quickly, and be cleaning, cooking, and crafting like the moment I got home from the hospital.  Foolishness, I tell you....LOL.

I did manage to change the look of my blog this morning....(priorities, right?)....and am anxious to share with you my new coffee bar space in my dining room.  That Pinterest has some wonderful ideas, doesn't it?

We are heavy coffee drinkers in this house, and knowing my love for coffee, my husband got me a Keurig for Christmas!  I have to admit, I haven't used it much.  I think the coffee is entirely too strong from the Keurig, so we use our coffee pot a lot more.  Do any of you have a Keurig, and what are your opinions?

In any case, I knew I wanted to make a coffee bar, and I had found this fun storage unit at a local consignment shop for $15.  I thought it would work perfectly for this space, and be functional as well with the storage for coffee underneath.

I had the shelf on the wall, which was a natural wood stain when I received it as a gift for Christmas one year.  A little spray paint goes a long way!  It was the perfect size for my coffee mugs, and those fun coffee sayings I found at a craft fair last fall.

Yay for me!  My first project since July of 2012......hoping to post more often now that I'm done being pregnant.  Check back soon!

Decker Tate

My baby boy arrived last week!  Decker Tate......I think we'll keep him!

As soon as I recover from this c-section, I plan on getting back to so many things that I have put on the back burner for the past 9 months......blogging being one of them.
I just wanted to share with you who contributed to my 9 month hiatus from just about everything.
He was worth it!

What I've Been Working On

To those who have been faithful followers, and haven't dropped me yet.....THANK YOU!

This year has been a roller coaster year for me. The first half of the year was pretty uneventful, but then came July 23rd.

July 23rd, we found out we were PREGNANT!  And July 24th, I fell ill with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, (an extreme form of morning sickness in pregnancy, 24/7 nausea).  I was quite literally on my couch for 12 weeks, and if I wasn't on my couch, I was in the ER receiving fluids from being so dehydrated.  I kind of expected this, because I have had it with each previous pregnancy, but you forget what it's like once it's over.  Granted, it took 9 years for my husband to convince me to try for just ONE more child, and when the sickness hit, it hit me like a freight train.  It should be a ton of fun once the baby gets here, though....I won't have any toddlers around to chase after.  My youngest are 9 years old, twins.....and my oldest is 12.  I will have plenty of help!

Praise the Lord, after I reached 15 weeks, the nausea eased up, and now I'm only sick when I wake up in the mornings, but feel pretty good the rest of the day.  The downside, at this point, is that I am already starting to get GINORMOUS, and I'm only 22 weeks!  The Dr. says I am measuring at 24 weeks, and the Ultrasound said 23 weeks.  Hoping this baby comes out 2-3 weeks before it's due! :)

In any case, this beautiful bundle of joy...I mean, BOY....is why you have seen no posts from me in the past few months.  And, future posts will be few and far between until this baby arrives in early March......but stick with me, please, because after this pregnancy is over, I'll be back to crafting again, and will definitely be finding ways to stretch a dollar, so there will be lots of fun posts ahead.

Picture Board Upcycle

You have no idea how excited I am to share this post with you!

I received this little number for free from my mother-in-law a while back.......

It doesn't exactly scream 'Keep me as I am' now, does it?

So, I tore off the white ribbon,
the tacky daisy buttons, and the not-so-awesome checkered fabric and went to town!

First, I cut this fun polk-a-dot fabric I found at Hobby Lobby for 30% off to fit the picture board, making sure I left enough to pull and secure the ends to the back of the board.

I then proceeded to wrap the board as I would wrap a gift, making sure to pull tight each time so there were no wrinkles in the front.

How did I secure the fabric to the back, you ask?

A GLUE GUN!

That's all I needed for this project.....a glue gun and scissors.
Would someone please give the person who invented the glue gun a hug already!?!

It's not perfect, but this is the BACK, so who cares, right?

I then added tulle for ease of hanging:

Next up, I added the pink ribbon.  Again, securing it to the back with only hot glue.

And then the green ribbon in the opposite direction:

Finally, it needed that POP, and since I had a box of bling to work with, that's what I did......
I added a little bling to each spot where the pink and green ribbon crossed.

How did I do that?  Yep....a glue gun!  LOL.

The finished product.....I am totally in love with it!

End Table Upcycle

June has been a crazy busy month!  Softball and baseball practices and games nearly everyday really made this month just FLY by.  Tomorrow my oldest, Gracey, turns 12 years old!  I have no idea where the past 12 years went.  We are meeting some family at a nearby water park to celebrate, and the weather calls for SUN and HEAT....should be fun!

Next week brings my 33rd (gulp) birthday, Independence Day, 4H projects to finish, and  I'm hosting two family get-togethers to boot!  It doesn't look like things will slow down anytime soon, but such is life.....and I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have managed to squeeze in a little upcycle for my dining room computer corner.  Oh, the things you can do with Mod Podge and Scrapbook Paper. :)

Here is what I started with.
I picked this gem up for $1.50 at a thrift store a long time ago.

Prepping for Operation Spray Paint:

I should have snapped a photo of the table after spray painting,
but before adding the scrapbook paper.....
but I didn't, sorry!

I literally used 5 things for this project:
*Spray Paint
*Scrapbook paper
*Mod Podge
*Scissors
*Paper Trimmer

After cutting paper to fit, I adhered it with Mod Podge.
This is how it turned out:

And, here it is back where it belongs....definite improvement!

Notice the print in the coffee wall hangings I have on the wall above the computer;
Exact same pattern as the scrapbook paper I used on the end table.
Yes, I planned that....lol.

I thought about painting the table black, but am glad I didn't.
I think using the cream color worked well, considering you find the same cream color in the wall hangings.

Tulle Time

After over a week of losing all hope of a computer recovery, my computer whiz friend took a look at it, and, against ALL odds, found all of my photos that I thought were long gone!!!  Praise the Lord.

So, I'm back up and running!

I found myself creating quite a bit last week (probably because I wasn't on the computer....lol....amazing what you can get done when you actually have nothing else to do but get something done).

I've been finding a lot of Tulle Wreaths on Pinterest lately, and wanted to try one for myself!

Started with this $7 wreath from Hobby Lobby:

Spray painted the wreath black,
picked out some tulle to match my living room, and
snatched up this 'O' glass frame from the Hobby Lobby clearance aisle for $3:

I cut each strip of tulle to be about 18" long:

I tied 2 strips of black, 2 strips of red, and so on and so forth around the wreath and knotted it:

Little bit of a mess here....turns out 18" was a bit too long, so.....

I pulled out the scissors and trimmed it up a bit:

I am totally in love with how it turned out:

Only problem now is figuring out where to put it....
On our door?

Or in the living room?

What do you think?

Crashed

Ugghh....

So, my laptop crashed last Friday.  This is one of those things that I never thought would happen to me.....not sure why I thought I was immune to this type of thing, but I did.  I am posting this from my desktop computer, which I loathe.  I just wanted to update you on why you won't be seeing much from me this week and next......hoping a friend can salvage my laptop this weekend, but am not getting my hopes up. :(  I think I really did a number on it this time!

This is just one of a few things that are going on right now.......not only did my laptop crash, but I'm kind of going through a few personal 'crashes' of sorts.  Nothing that my God cannot handle, and probably pretty petty compared to what others are going through, but would appreciate a prayer just the same.  I don't want to go into detail, but would love a little pick-me-up right about now, and I know prayer is a powerful thing.  :)  Much obliged!

I'll be back........
